VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Children. Sworn in as a CASA on May 8, 2008, by Juvenile Court Referee Natalie S. Lindsey. Founded in 1991, the Sacramento CASA Program serves children in Sacramento County by training volunteers to become "a child's voice in court." The CASA program offers children - many of whom are foster youth - the critical components of consistency and support. Presiding Juvenile Court Judge Kenneth Peterson says, "CASA volunteers provide a critically needed voice in court for abused and neglected children. They help right the wrongs committed upon these vulnerable children and give them deserved respect and protection. The only problem is that we don't have nearly enough of them." Anyone interested in more information about the CASA program should call the CASA Office at (916) 875-6460 or visit the Website at www.sacramentocasa.org.
